MAT BRAT HIGH DRAMA: Monash Student Newspaper Censored By Left Brat Mat Hilakari

High drama at the Monash Student Association this afternoon as its Treasurer - a member of the Socialist Left faction and candidate for President at imminent elections - has ordered that their student newspaper Lot's Wife not be printed because he wants to check it for any potentially defamatory references to himself and his colleagues in the Socialist group Go!

Student organisations at Monash like the MSA receive the vast bulk of their funding from Australian taxpayers.

The newspaper is scheduled to be at the printer today. However Hilakari, whose brother is a part of the notorious LHMU controlled by the Socialist Left has refused to sign the print requisition form until the newspaper's elected editors Naomi Snell and Dara Conduit submit the paper to a group of student politicians on the Monash Student Executive so that they can establish whether there is anything 'potentially defamatory' in it. In other words, anything they don't like about themselves or indeed anything else they don't like. If only I could do that with The Age, much of it would be blank.

ABUSE OF POWER
Not that it's slowing him down, but Hilakari is acting completely outside his power, insiders say. He has no resolution of the Executive authorising him to withhold authorisation and no discretion in the matter, it is purely a formality, not a device to equip him with the power to direct elected editors.

He has refused a request to hold a meeting of the Executive on the issue as it appears the sleazy operator is uncertain of his "numbers" with bad girl President Zoe Edwards not at work today.

The issue has become a stand-off with the arrogant Hilakari refusing to change his mind and the elected newspaper editors saying he is failing in his duties as Treasurer and could be acting unlawfully by misusing his power to unilaterally and without valid excuse to withhold his permission for the printing of the publication.

Developing... (we'll be covering the Monash debacle in extensive detail tomorrow including the role of Labor Left barrister Tony Lang in censoring articles)

Game on.
